The cost per person for three nights is will be $337/each.

The CHS Band Boosters has reserved a block of rooms (Double Queen) at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Athens for the nights of Thursday (Jan. 19), Friday (Jan. 20), and Saturday (Jan 21). This location was chosen due to its close proximity to restaurants, the UGA campus and bus line, and the Classic Center.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

  1. Students will share rooms - 4 boys in one room, 3 girls in another. Chaperones can stay two to a room. Hotel Parking is additional.

  2. Depending on which JanFest band each student is assigned to, they will either walk across the street to the Classic Center, or ride a UGA bus (or the chaperone will drive them) to the Hodgson School of Music.

  3. Participating CHS Students are not obligated to stay at this hotel, but those staying at the Hilton will be chaperoned and we'll work together as a group to make sure everyone gets to where they need to be.

  4. There will be four JanFest bands seated. Two JanFest bands will practice at the Classic Center, and two JanFest bands will practice at the UGA School of Music Building (Hodgson). If any student decides to stay elsewhere, they'll be responsible for the cost of their lodging as well as making sure they're at all JanFest events on time.

  5. Additional rooms are available in the block, if anyone would like to stay as a family. Contact Paula Emde (paulaemde@yahoo.com, 404-285-3874) by January 10 for the block rate and more information.

Chaperones

Paula and Erick Emde will be chaperoning. We could use one or two more chaperones. If you are available and would like to help participants as needed during JanFest, please contact Mrs Marin or Paula Emde (paulaemde@yahoo.com, 404-285-3874)

Transportation

Students are not allowed to drive themselves. While normally this wouldn't be a big deal, Janfest historically gets icy roads, if not snow. It is not a good idea for students to be so far from home and unprepared for those kinds of driving conditions. Even though Mrs Marin is not going this year, she still feel strongly about students traveling safely in a parent-driven car. Mrs. Emde can take three students, if you'd like to carpool with the Emdes, please contact her (paulaemde@yahoo.com, 404-285-3874).
